With 100 hands-on exhibits and a 360 cinema experience, The Winchester Science Centre & Planetarium is a hub for informal science learning and a popular visitor attraction for schools and the general public. The charity receives over 170,000 visitors per year and is home to the UK’s largest standalone planetarium.
Zeta was brought in to assist with promoting the attraction to new audiences living in or visitors to the UK. Using our in-house marketing team we worked with Winchester Science Centre to define their digital marketing strategy.
There are two mediums that our team manage for the attraction, search engine optimisation and Google Adwords. SEO is one area we look to continually increase organic traffic from Google and Bing. Our strategy includes increasing domain authority, content marketing, key phrase targeting and ongoing site health checks.
Our Google Adwords team also manages their Google Grants account where they receive $10,000 a month free advertising on Google Adwords. We have qualified Adwords specialists who maximise traffic whilst keeping the visitors relevant and most important converting into customers. The current target is to apply for $40,000 a month of free advertising spend.

The careful execution of eCommerce tracking has allowed us to improve ad optimisation. Combined with campaigns created by Zeta, this has resulted in a more effective use of the budget, resulting in higher conversion rates and revenue. This is now the second year of marketing support that Zeta has provided Winchester Science Centre and now we are looking at implementing a new website.
